Renew

River, Marina Moevs, 2005

The bright winter feasts
can be finicky beasts
with pleasing traditions of give and take
the hurry and flurry of requisite cheer

When the glitter and flash
turn to litter and trash
pause to reflect in the clear, still lake
and breathe in a soft green new year
