The Promenade, 1918, by Marc Chagall
Today is the beginning
One grand moment that ensures
You'll have eternity
Roll out the red carpet
Shine the light on your premiere
Today is the beginning
Reflect upon the past
Picture what may come to be
You'll have eternity
Prepare to improvise
Life won't always follow script
Today is the beginning
The great romantic leads
Step into supporting roles
To last eternally
Dream together in the clouds
Grounded in serenity
Today is the beginning
You'll have eternity
For my sister's recent wedding
Best wishes to your sister and her man! I would love to think the poem is part of the ceremony. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet poem for your sister, 'Today is the beginning . . . To last eternally' - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe stanzas remind me of the way I write senryuu, counting the accents (3-5-3) instead of syllables (5-7-5). Best wishes to your sister and her leading man--we had a wedding anniversary not long ago, and have long years of happiness on our minds.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your sister. I wish them many beautiful beginnings. This would be a lovely poem to read at the wedding reception. Oh, I see that Helen has said the same!
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you T! That is amazing.

Just make sure to read this to her before she gets ready for the wedding! Otherwise, the tears of joy your sweet words will bring will ruin her makeup!
ReplyDeleteAh the Secret.
ReplyDeleteThe leads must be willing to accept supporting roles.
Excellent job! I hope the wedding went well!
ReplyDeleteThe painting is beautiful. I love this little poem. Thank you so much for posting and sharing this with everyone.
