Dependence

A Magpie Tale
Our Founding Fathers
would not have set off fireworks
on the Sabbath Day,
but give thanks and pray
to the God who set them free
from mortal tyranny.
He was to be their King.
In whom do we now trust?

    I love it. I enjoyed how you took this years 4th on Sunday and weaved it between God, Royalty and Freedom. It may have been stated that there needs to be a seperation of Church and State but with this little poem you bound them together so neat and tight. Thank you for sharing.

    Ooo! That is a good question. I'm LDS too and of course, when certain holiday celebrations were on Sundays I always felt sad I couldn't join in. Really great magpie, I like your focus and how it's about the founding fathers.

    Fortunately, the next town over has a quirky tradition of doing their fireworks display every July 3rd. It's nice to have a choice!
